Christopher Baker A.M.I.M.I
-
Proprietor
Chris founded the business in 1986 after working his way
up through the ranks of the motor trade. He started his
career as an apprentice with a landrover sub dealer,
where he became one of the youngest MOT testers in
the country. From there he went on to work for two
years in a business specialising in the repair of
plant and agricultural machinery. This was followed
by two years as technician, service supervisor and
service manager at a local Vauxhall dealership
before starting his own business which he has built
up over the last 22 years. Chris’s motto is; “its
not only my job but my hobby” and feels that when
this motto no longer applies it will be time to
retire! To compliment his vast experience within the
industry he also lectures part time in the
automotive section at
South Devon College. |

Michelle Booth - Office
Manager
Michelle came to Western Garage in 1998 on a modern
apprentice scheme, via the
Paignton Sec Info Tech, as a
trainee secretary. She rose to this challenging career
change with drive and determination, and apart from a
few weeks away to get married and a few years away to
raise her son, has worked for Western
Garage ever since.
Michelle is in charge of accounts and administration and
thoroughly enjoys her work within the motor trade. She
has gained vast experience in the industry and along
with Chris was responsible for setting up both the class
one, two and four MOT bays. |

Robert Soper - Chief
Technician and Workshop Foreman
At 16 Rob went straight to a local garage in his
hometown of Brixham to start his apprenticeship in the
motor trade. He worked there for the next five years, in
which time he completed his NVQ level three before
deciding he needed to improve his knowledge and skills,
and joined the team at Western Garage. Now three years
later Rob is workshop foreman, and mot tester. Rob also
specialises in computer diagnostics and enjoys the
jovial atmosphere of this particular establishment.
Rob is always happy to discuss with our customers their
individual concerns and requirements. |
